They are also found in vee twin magnetos and those used in racing and arduous conditions. Magnetos designed to operate with platinium points do not work well when fitted with tungsten points. Unlike tungsten, platinium does not tarnish or corrode and has a low electrical resistance. An alloy of platinum and iridium is used for strength and to prevent the hammering action of the points from flattening the platinum tip. We manufacture platinium points on M3.5 and 4BA threaded backings. Other threads and rivets are available on request.
